Sophia (a legacy of eggshells)

Sophia is wisdom, and the result of several stages of alchemical transformation.
I collect eggshells,
I photograph them, I garden with them, and for most of 2008, I had everyone I knew (and many strangers) save and give tens of thousands of them to me. After painstakingly hand washing them, I covered the floor of a 1,500 square foot gallery, lit only by projections, and crushed over time by the feet of viewers and attendees -
